This story is one of international success in not one, but two separate Paralympic sports, with multiple gold medals in both his swimming and cycling career.
Jody was born with a deformed right foot, which was amputated at the age of 3. He was then fitted with an artificial leg, and hasn’t looked back since.
At the age of 5 he had his first swimming lesson with his school and ended up being rescued from the bottom of the pool by a fully clothed parent! After that his parents enrolled him into the local swimming club where he learnt to swim.
His international debut came in 1994, representing Great Britain at the world swimming championships were he won his first gold medal in the 100m Butterfly. During Jodys 10 year swimming career he has collated a massive 23 international medals (14 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze).
In 2005 Jody changed sports after a ride at the Newport Velodrome. The same year saw Jody enter the national championships and break the British record for the flying 200. His times caught the attention of the GB coaches, and he was invited to a time trial for a place on the 2006 Paralympic world cup team.
Jody has gone onto become multiple Paralympic champion and the fastest solo Paralympian cyclist.
